The prices of Goods include VAT. However, if the rate of VAT changes between the dates of your order and the date of delivery, we will adjust the VAT you pay on any outstanding balances unless you have already paid for the goods in full, before the change in VAT takes place.
This receipt forms a legal contract. Cancellations cannot be accepted and deposits not refunded.
Any guarantees given are based on the manufacturer’s guarantees only.
This contract is not time critical.
Delivery/Fitting
Estimates on all goods are given on information supplied by the manufacturer. Sofas and Beyond Ltd as a company does not guarantee delivery within an estimated time period.
If our delivery team un-wrap any items they will not dispose of any packaging. Our carpet/flooring team will endeavour to leave any room in a tidy condition, but will not dispose of any waste.
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure clear access into the room where furniture is being placed. If the delivery team cannot gain easy access to the room of choice, the delivery will be door to door only.
Although we understand the difficulties in checking access routes, door sizes and corridors for delivery of oddly shaped sofas and furniture, it is always your final responsibility to ensure that your new furniture will fit into your home.
If delivery cannot be completed and the delivery team have to return a second time, a second delivery charge equal to the first will be chargeable.
We will contact you where applicable to arrange delivery and to ensure that full payment has been made prior to your order being delivered. We will offer you an initial delivery date but if this is not acceptable we will offer you a maximum of two reasonable alternatives. We reserve the right to charge a storage charge in the event you do not reasonably accept delivery. If you are not going to accept delivery yourself, you must notify us in advance of the nominated adult who will take delivery.
It is common that when your upholstery furniture is first delivered pressure marks may be visible particularly on corner and headrests. This is purely due to how the furniture has been transported and given time will lift out naturally. Some pressure marks will need plumping regularly for the first few months to loosen the fibres and return the furniture to perfect condition.
Oak/Wood Furniture
All our furniture in our Oak Furniture World range is made from quality natural wood and accordingly appearances may vary. Some woods will mellow with age and exposure to sunlight. When you are purchasing our furniture you are buying handmade furniture where varying degrees of distressing is generally applied. This is very much intended and makes each piece totally individual as desired by the craftsmen.
All of our designs will have varying degrees of distressing from piece to piece; this may involve wood splits, wood filling, knots, purpose distress/scratch marks, antiquing etc. Certain degrees of filler will be used on oak furniture; this is common and very much a part of the manufacturing process.
It is common procedure in the manufacture of wood/oak products that any product with legs/feet may have differing finishes on the non-visible parts – this is due to ensuring all legs are of equal length/height.
Carpet/Flooring
All carpets may develop light and dark patches caused by pile reversal or uneven movement of the pile; this applies particularly to cut pile carpets. This is not detrimental to the wear of the carpet and is not a manufacturing defect, therefore not covered by the guarantee.
Every effort will be made where a join is necessary to pattern match. However, most carpets by their nature of manufacture cannot be guaranteed to match.
Where a carpet is scotchguarded this will help resist stains, however does not make the carpet absolutely stain proof.
Leather
Real leather is a natural product. It breathes, and has individual characteristics which are the natural charm and beauty of hide.
As a natural product however, it will often display traces of the animals past life, such as brand marks, wrinkles, veins, healed scars and differing fibre density.
These hallmarks will no way detract from the wearing qualities of leather, they are signs that discerning owners cherish when buying leather. With the passage of time and normal use, it develops a patina which enhances its natural beauty.
It must be remembered that around ten hides are required to make a suite. No two hides are identical and due to variation in grain structures as mentioned above, the dyes and finishes penetrate to different degrees into the various parts of the hide to give attractive variations. Whilst every attempt is made to achieve uniformity, this is not always possible. Because each hide is unique in itself, patterns and colour samples should always be regarded as no more than a guide.
The combination of these factors means that during the first few weeks of use, wrinkles and creases will form naturally in the leather. This is quite normal and should not cause concern; they are designed into the furniture and give a soft and inviting look, which is an inherent quality of leather upholstered furniture.
It is recommended that you only use water and recommended cleaners on your leather furniture paying particular attention to the arms and headrests. This should be done once per week.
- Do not use household detergents.
- Do not use a cloth for cleaning any other items.
- Do not allow the leather to come into contact with any furniture polish.
- Do not allow the leather to come into contact with any aerosols, air fresheners and any chemicals whatsoever.
- This receipt should be retained and proof of purchase and manufacturing guarantee if applicable.
Warranty on Clearance and Refurbished Furniture
From time to time, we reduce and dispose of ex-display furniture, together with reducing and clearing customer returns and refurbished seconds. This furniture is not sold as a new item, will not be in new condition and is reduced to varying degrees in order to reflect that. Due to these reductions and the history of this furniture, we do not offer our standard warranties on it. All of this product is covered by a statutory 12-month warranty with no extension periods. This does not affect your statutory rights. None of the warranty provisions that we offer covers misuse, neglect or abuse of the furniture.
